FIC Report (Edo State) – Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has assured Nigerians that the Federal Government, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is implementing robust security strategies in collaboration with relevant agencies to safeguard lives and property across the country.
The governor gave the assurance while speaking at an interdenominational prayer service held at his residence in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State.
Governor Okpebholo called on Nigerians to continue praying for President Tinubu and his administration, noting that sustained prayers are vital to the successful implementation of government policies and election promises.
According to him, continuous prayers coupled with effective collaboration between the state government and security agencies have led to significant improvements in Edo State’s security situation. He said the state has recorded a drastic reduction in kidnapping, cultism, and other criminal activities.
“I want to assure you that our administration and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are doing everything possible to ensure the safety of lives and property of Nigerians and to make Edo State safer,” the governor said. “The kidnappings we saw yesterday, we shall see them no more. The cultism and cult-related activities we witnessed in the past, we shall see them no more.”
Governor Okpebholo further urged citizens to pray for President Tinubu, stressing that the president requires prayers at this critical time as he pursues far-reaching policies and economic reforms aimed at national development, despite criticisms.
He added that his administration has put deliberate strategies in place to ensure sustained development and progress in Edo State, but expressed concern that some critics are attempting to distract the government and stall development.
“As we are working to develop Edo State, some people are trying to divert our attention and push the state toward retrogression. I appeal for prayers, asking God to frustrate the enemies of the state,” he said.
The governor emphasised the importance of prayers for development, noting that without spiritual support, businesses and economic activities would struggle to thrive.
In his sermon titled “Crossing Over with Gratitude,” Reverend Francis Okhale urged the congregation to always give thanks to God, describing gratitude as a key that unlocks the fulfillment of expectations.
He encouraged continued prayers for Governor Okpebholo, whom he said had convened the prayer service to thank God for the achievements recorded by his administration over the past year.
“We are here to honour God Almighty for what
He is using Senator Monday Okpebholo to do for the people of Edo State,” Okhale said. “The impact of his administration is evident, particularly in infrastructural development such as flyovers, schools, hospitals, and other critical projects.”
The prayer service climaxed with a special session of prayers for the governor, his administration, and the people of Edo State.
