FIC Report (Niger State) – Niger State Governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has made a passionate to appeal to the Federal Government to give more attention to all the federal roads spread across the state to ease movements on the roads.
The farmer governor made the appeal when he visited the Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi, at his office in Abuja.
He noted that the state has more federal roads in the country, and it serves as a gateway between the northern and southern parts of Nigeria, hence, the roads need more attention to make them motorable for commuters.
The farmer governor who observed with concern, persistent gridlock from Jebba-Lambata due to bad road, said movement on the road has become an herculean task for the people.
While appreciating the efforts of the Federal government in fixing some of the Federal roads, farmer governor Umaru Bago said there is a need to expedite action in continuing with the projects, assuring that his administration is willing to give all the necessary support to ensure success.
He also called for proactive measures to be taken on the Jebba and Izom-Lambata bridges to forestall disaster.
Responding, the Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi, disclosed that efforts have gone far in making sure the Minna-Suleja road project continues, adding that contractors are already fixing the Jebba and Lambata bridges.
The minister, who commended the farmer governor for his commitment to service in terms of urban renewal projects, agriculture, health, and education, among others, also applauded him for carrying out several intervention works on federal roads across Niger State.
He said the Ministry will get the status report of all the federal roads in Niger State with a view to taking appropriate and favourable actions.
