Assembly Pledges Support For Federation Laws Review Committee

FIC Report (Ekiti State) – The Ekiti State House of Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, has pledged the support of the Assembly for the ongoing review of the laws of the Federation aimed at strengthening existing laws and aligning them with current realities in the country.

Aribasoye made this pledge in his office in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday while hosting the Technical Committee on the Review of the Laws of the Federation, led by Barr. Olawale Fapohunda (SAN).

In his remarks, the Speaker assured the Committee that the Seventh Ekiti State House of Assembly would continue to enact laws that were in tandem with federal laws.

Explaining the Committee’s objectives to the House, Fapohunda who chaired the Committee on the Review of the Laws of the Federation, commended the Seventh Assembly for taking legislative proceedings to the people’s doorstep through its e-parliament initiative.

He stated that the Committee would leave no stone unturned in reviewing existing laws in the country, stressing the importance of the exercise which was last conducted over two decades ago.

The Chairman emphasised that the review would address any lacuna in the existing laws and protect the interests of citizens across the country, reiterating the importance of effective law enforcement in promoting national progress and unity.
