………..Harp on advancing women development.
FIC Report (Kwara State) – The Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), in collaboration with the Development Research Project Centre (DRPC), commemorated the 2026 International Women’s Day with a call for stronger collective support to advance women’s development and empowerment.
The event highlighted the need for unity in addressing challenges faced by women across social, economic, and professional spaces.
Speaking through the theme “Advancing Women through Unity: The Impact of Collective Support (GiveToGain)”, the guest speaker of the occasion, Alh Olurotimi Dare Abdulganiyu, Kwara State Director, National Orientation Agency, emphasized practical actions that promote gender equality. Participants were encouraged to support women by giving respect, resources, opportunities, protection, and safety, while also advocating for equal pay, training, visibility, and access to opportunities.
Other speakers at the event stressed that meaningful progress for women requires concrete actions rather than mere rhetoric, captured in the message “Deeds Not Words.” The celebration served as a platform to promote awareness, encourage collaboration, and inspire stakeholders to actively contribute to the advancement of women in society.
