The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance (Finance), Raymond Omenchi, has reaffirmed the pivotal role of the Finance Ministry in shaping Nigeria’s economic direction, underscoring the need for institutional coherence, professionalism, and disciplined execution of fiscal responsibilities.
Mr. Omenchi made this known during the handover ceremony for the newly appointed Permanent Secretary (Special Duties), where he described the Ministry as the engine room of economic coordination, with responsibilities that demand precision, accountability, and sustained policy focus.
He commended Directors and staff for their steadfast commitment and charged them to sustain the Ministry’s performance culture by giving their full support to the incoming Permanent Secretary.
The newly appointed Permanent Secretary (Special Duties), Mohammed Sanusi Danjuma, who formally assumed office at the ceremony, described his appointment as a call to elevated national responsibility.
He pledged his commitment to advance fiscal discipline, strengthen financial governance systems, and support the effective implementation of government policies.
Mr. Danjuma also emphasized the importance of aligning the Ministry’s operations with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the Ministry remains central to driving economic stability and sustainable growth.
He assured staff of his commitment to building a results-oriented environment anchored on transparency, collaboration, and institutional integrity.
Expressing appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, for the confidence reposed in him, Mr. Danjuma pledged to justify the trust through diligent and impactful service.
Also speaking, the Director of Human Resources Management, Aderonke Jaiyesimi, on behalf of the Directors, assured the new Permanent Secretary of the full cooperation of the management team, reaffirming their commitment to a seamless transition and sustained institutional performance.
