Enugu 2026 Gathers Momentum As NSC Holds Maiden MOC Meeting

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has announced that the Main Organising Committee (MOC) for the 23rd National Sports Festival, tagged Enugu 2026, will hold its maiden meeting on Thursday, April 16, 2026, as preparations intensify for the successful hosting of Nigeria’s premier multi-sport event.

The meeting marks a significant step in the build-up to the festival and will focus on critical areas such as infrastructure readiness, logistics, accommodation, security, media operations, and the overall framework for seamless event delivery.

Enugu 2026 will be historic, as it represents the first time Enugu State will host the National Sports Festival, underscoring growing confidence in the state’s capacity to stage a world-class sporting event.

The Director General of the NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade, who also serves as Chairman of the Main Organising Committee (MOC), reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to delivering a befitting and memorable festival in collaboration with the Enugu State Government.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Olopade noted that the early commencement of planning reflects the Commission’s determination to ensure a successful outing.

“The National Sports Festival remains a vital platform for talent discovery, youth engagement, and national unity. We are committed to working closely with the Enugu State Government and all stakeholders to ensure that Enugu 2026 sets a new benchmark in organisation and excellence,” he said.

The Enugu State Government has continued to demonstrate strong commitment towards hosting a successful festival, with ongoing efforts geared at upgrading sports facilities and putting in place the necessary structures for a hitch-free event.
