FIC Report (Anambra State) – The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, Commandant Maku Olatunde, has reaffirmed the commitment of the NSCDC to work closely with the Judiciary to rid Anambra State of all forms of crime and criminality.
Commandant Maku stated this when he paid a working visit to the newly appointed Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Anambra State, Barr. Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN, in his office this week.
According to the State NSCDC Commandant, the NSCDC needs the Judiciary’s cooperation to promote security and justice in Anambra State, given its role as the lead agency in the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, in addition to regulating Private Security Outfit operations.
Commandant Maku, while enumerating some of his modest achievements in the state in line with the NSCDC’s core mandates, assured the state’s Chief Law Officer of the Corps’ disposition to working with all stakeholders, including the legal system, in ensuring the protection of citizens, upholding the rule of law, and combating crime and criminal activities within the state.
Responding, Barr. Tobechukwu Nweke commended the NSCDC’s role in advancing the rule of law, promising to support the Corps in discharging its core mandates to safeguard the lives and property of all residents.
During the visit, the State Commandant and the Attorney General engaged in fruitful discussions on matters of mutual interest, focusing on enhancing the effectiveness of law enforcement efforts, promoting public safety and security, and improving the administration of criminal justice in the state.
The meeting ended with both officials reaffirming their plans to sustain collaboration between the NSCDC and legal authorities to tackle emerging security challenges and ensure a safe, secure environment for Anambra State residents.
