FIC Report (Ondo State) – Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has commended workers for their dedication and urged increased productivity to support government reforms.
Speaking at the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration in Akure, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to workers’ welfare, prompt payment of salaries, and sustainable development.
He disclosed that about 4,000 workers have been recruited across key sectors, promotions are ongoing without arrears, and gratuities for 2018 and 2019 retirees have been cleared.
On security, he said the state has strengthened the Amotekun Corps with the recruitment of 500 personnel and improved inter-agency collaboration.
He added that poverty reduction efforts include youth empowerment, skills acquisition, and agricultural support programmes.
Governor Aiyedatiwa also assured candidates affected by irregularities in the SUBEB recruitment exercise that their appointments will be regularised.
Labour leaders commended the governor’s efforts while calling for continued action on security and economic challenges.
