Tushima Advocates Equity, Inclusive Representation for Benue North-East

FIC Report (Benue State) – Prof. Cephas T. A. Tushima has called for justice, equity, and inclusive representation in Benue North-East Senatorial District (Zone A), stressing the need for purposeful leadership and balanced political participation across the zone.

Prof. Tushima made the call during an interaction with members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Benue State Council, on Monday, 4 April 2026.

Speaking on issues affecting the district, Tushima described leadership as a responsibility that should be driven by service, accountability, and measurable impact on the lives of the people.

The university don and public affairs advocate, who hails from Mbachom in Yaav Council Ward of Kwande Local Government Area, said there is a growing need for leaders who understand the challenges facing rural communities and are committed to addressing them through effective representation and people-oriented policies.

He emphasized the importance of fairness and inclusion in the political process, noting that equitable representation among the local government areas in the district would promote unity, peace, and sustainable development.

Tushima also highlighted the need for improved security, infrastructure development, quality education, economic empowerment, and stronger legislative advocacy to advance the welfare of the people.

He urged citizens to support leaders with integrity and competence while discouraging divisive and money-driven politics.

Speaking further, he commended the media for its role in deepening democracy and promoting accountability, calling on journalists to remain committed to truth, fairness, and responsible reportage.

Responding, Chairman of the NUJ, Benue State Council, Comrade Bemdoo Ugber, appreciated the engagement and reaffirmed the commitment of journalists to objective reporting and public enlightenment.
