The Hon. Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, was in Bida to witness the conferment of the prestigious traditional title of “Soniyako Nupe” on Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, by the Etsu Nupe, HRH. Alh. Yahaya Abubakar, CFR., Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar. Also on the royal visit were the Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Bago, his wife, Fatima Mohammed Bago, the Minister of State for Agriculture, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, Senator representing Niger East, Mohammed Sani Musa, and Hon. Saidu Musa Abdullahi.
The visit also featured the grand finale of the Renewed Hope International Horse Racing Derby, where riders from different parts of Nigeria competed for several prestigious trophies, including the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Cup and Governor Umaru Bago’s Cup. Amid cheers from guests and spectators, Senator Oluremi Tinubu presented prizes, car keys and cheques to deserving winners, while the Etsu Nupe presented a horse to her as a symbolic gift on behalf of the Horse Riding Federation of Nigeria.
