FIC Report (Taraba State) – The Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting Federal University Wukari to enhance academic activities and infrastructural development.
Governor Kefas made the pledge while receiving the Pro-Chancellor, Vice Chancellor and management staff of the university during a courtesy visit at Government House, Jalingo.
Receiving the management of the university at the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo, Governor Agbu Kefas, stressed the importance of education in nation building, noting that no society can attain meaningful development without investing in education.
The Governor also congratulated the newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Prof Benjamin Kefas, describing his appointment as well deserved and merit based.
He said the appointment had brought pride to the people of Taraba State and expressed confidence in the Vice Chancellor’s ability to justify the trust reposed in him.
Governor Kefas further commended Prof Benjamin Kefas for his passion, sacrifice and commitment to educational development, urging him to remain focused and dedicated to the continued progress of the institution.
In his remarks, Pro Benjamin Kefas appreciated Governor Agbu Kefas for his consistent support for the institution.
The Vice Chancellor noted that the Governor understands the importance of investing in the education and training of future generations, describing his commitment to the university as commendable.
He appealed to the Governor to support efforts towards securing legal backing for the institution, pointing out that the university has operated for the past sixteen years without being formally gazetted into law.
Also speaking, the Pro-Chancellor of the university, Prof Isah Bello, commended Governor Agbu Kefas for his moral, logistical and financial support to the institution, particularly during the recent leadership transition.
Highlights of the visit included the presentation of gifts and letters of commendation to the Governor.
