FIC Report (Benue State) – The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has approved the appointment of Dr. Ihu Eunice Ogbenyi as the Acting Head of Service (HoS) of Benue State following the death of the substantive Head of Service, Dr. Moses Agbogbo Ode.
The appointment was announced on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, through a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Tersoo Kula.
Governor Alia, while congratulating Dr. Ogbenyi on her appointment, charged her to uphold professionalism, integrity, and dedication in the discharge of her duties. He emphasized the need for continuity in the ongoing reforms within the state civil service and urged her to ensure that all official actions align with the vision and principles of his administration.
According to the Governor, the interest of Benue State must remain paramount in all official engagements and decisions undertaken by the Acting Head of Service.
Dr. Ogbenyi, who hails from Oju Local Government Area of Benue State, was born on June 12, 1973. Prior to her appointment, she served as Permanent Secretary in the Benue State Ministry of Lands and Survey.
She holds a Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in Mathematics/Physics obtained from the College of Education, Oju, in 1996. She further earned a Bachelor’s Degree in 2005, a Master’s Degree in 2010, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mathematics Education in 2021 from Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University.
Dr. Ogbenyi joined the Benue State Teaching Service Board in 1998 as a Principal Assistant Education Officer (PAEO II). In February 2012, her service was transferred to the Benue State Ministry of Education, where she served in various capacities, including Deputy Director of Education in the Department of Planning, Research and Statistics and Assistant Head of the Education Management Information System (EMIS) Unit.
The appointment is expected to ensure stability and continuity in the administration of the Benue State Civil Service following the loss of the late Head of Service.
