Police Rescue Adelabu’s Sister, Twin Sons After Three Days in Captivity

FIC Report (Oyo State) – Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, from their abductors after three days in captivity.

The victims were rescued alive during a late-night operation conducted at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, following an intensive intelligence-led search by security operatives.

A source within the Force disclosed that the rescue operation culminated in a gun battle between police operatives and the kidnappers. According to the source, two suspected members of the kidnapping gang were neutralised during the exchange, while two firearms were recovered from the suspects.

Mrs. John-Paul and her sons were abducted at about 7:30 a.m. on June 3, 2026, while she was reportedly on her way to drop the children off at school.

Police sources said sustained intelligence gathering, strategic tracking, and coordinated tactical pressure mounted on the kidnappers ultimately forced them into a confrontation with security operatives, paving the way for the successful rescue of the victims.

The source added that security personnel have intensified operations in surrounding communities to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate who fled the scene during the rescue operation. Some of the fleeing suspects are believed to have sustained gunshot wounds.

The police have assured residents that efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining suspects and dismantle the criminal network responsible for the abduction.

The rescue has been hailed as a significant breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.
