
…..…Tasks City Boy Movement on Publicity Drive of President Tinubu’s Scorecard to the Grassroots.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, CON has declared that the achievements of the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu remain unmatched in Nigeria’s recent history, urging members of the City Boy Movement to intensify efforts in communicating the administration’s landmark accomplishments to Nigerians.
While receiving members of the City Boy Movement, led by its Director-General, Mr. Oluwatosin Shoga, on Thursday, 2nd July, 2026 in Abuja, the SGF noted that despite inheriting enormous economic challenges, the Tinubu administration has recorded unprecedented achievements within a short period in line with its Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to him, several road projects abandoned for many years, including sections of the Abuja-Kaduna corridor, have now been completed, while numerous roads, universities, schools, power projects and dams across the six geopolitical zones are awaiting commissioning.
SGF described the Tinubu administration as one that has delivered unprecedented reforms within a short period, citing the rebuilding of Nigeria’s foreign reserves from near depletion to almost 50 billion dollars as one of the administration’s landmark achievements.
“This government has, within a very short period, regenerated our reserves from virtually zero to close to 50 billion dollars. That is a record that has not been witnessed in many decades. It is a product of bold reforms, careful planning, commitment and purposeful leadership,” he noted.
He further tasked members of the City Boy Movement to intensify grassroots sensitisation campaign by taking President Tinubu’s scorecard directly to the grassroots across the nation.
“You have a responsibility to help tell Nigerians what this government is doing. Many people only need access to factual information. Take the message to the grassroots so that citizens can appreciate the impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he urged.
In his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, mni described the SGF as one of the true loyalist and supporter of President Tinubu, whose untrammelled contribution to the Renewed Hope Agenda cannot be over-emphasised.
“I want to happily welcome you to your home, OSGF. If you are to count the most loyal supporters of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator George Akume would undoubtedly be among them. The history of President Tinubu’s administration cannot be complete without mentioning Senator George Akume and his invaluable contributions,” he said.
Speaking earlier, the Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Mr. Oluwatosin Shoga called for the support and collaboration of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) in strengthening grassroots awareness of the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda across the country. He expressed appreciation to the SGF for his steadfast support for President Tinubu’s administration.
He conveyed the goodwill of the Movement’s Patron, Mr. Seyi Tinubu, and the entire leadership and membership of the City Boy Movement, reaffirming their unwavering commitment to the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda, describing him as a source of inspiration to millions of young Nigerians through his commitment to youth development, grassroots mobilisation and national service.
He disclosed that the City Boy Movement has grown into one of the largest youth-driven political and civic mobilisation platforms in Nigeria and across Africa, with a mission centred on informing, engaging and empowering young Nigerians while strengthening the relationship between government and citizens.
“Our mission is clear—we are informing, engaging and empowering Nigerian youths. We are also bridging the gap between the government and the people by ensuring that citizens understand the reasons behind the bold reforms being implemented by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.
He revealed that the City Boy Movement has already conducted grassroots engagements across several states of the federation, including Benue State, where members interacted directly with local communities in furtherance of the Movement’s advocacy. He added that the Movement is now entering a new phase of nationwide mobilisation and strategic engagement aimed at consolidating support for the administration and promoting greater public understanding of government policies.
“The real engagement has begun. We believe that effective communication and sustained grassroots mobilisation are essential to ensuring that Nigerians appreciate the achievements of this administration and the vision behind its reforms,” he stated.
