…… Pays Courtesy Visit To Ovie Of Oghara Kingdom, Holds Stakeholders’ Security Meeting

FIC Report (Delta State) – The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, on Monday, 6th July 2026, undertook a strategic security visit to Oghara, where he paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty, Noble Oyibo Eshemitan, JP, FCA, the Uku Oghara Na’me, Orefe III, the Ovie of Oghara Kingdom, before holding a strategic security meeting with critical stakeholders in Ethiope West Local Government Area.

A press statement by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer {PPRO) SP. Bright Edafe, disclosed that the visit formed part of the command’s sustained engagement with traditional institutions and key stakeholders to strengthen community policing and enhance public safety across the State.

During the palace visit, the CP commended the Monarch for his leadership in promoting peace and harmonious coexistence within the kingdom.

Following his assessment of the security situation in Oghara, the CP noted that apart from some isolated cases of kidnapping and cultism, the area has been peaceful and reiterated the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, on closer collaboration with traditional rulers, local government authorities and communities as a cornerstone of effective policing. The CP stressed that criminal elements remain the common enemy, as he called for sustained intelligence sharing and collective action to preserve the existing peace in the aera.

In his response, the royal father described the CP as a competent and purposeful leader, reaffirming the kingdom’s commitment to supporting the Police in safeguarding lives and property.

The stakeholders’ meeting was attended by the Chairman of Ethiope West Local Government Area, Hon. (Pst.) Christian O. Onogba, youth leaders, Presidents-General of communities, the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), representatives of the Arewa community and other critical stakeholders.

Deliberations focused on the challenges of drug abuse, cultism and kidnapping, with participants pledging greater cooperation through timely intelligence sharing, protection of informants and stronger synergy among the Police, the judiciary, local government and community leaders to ensure the effective prosecution of criminal suspects and sustained peace.

CP Yemi Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, further assured stakeholders that the Delta State Police Command would continue to strengthen intelligence-led policing and strategic partnerships with traditional institutions, local government authorities and communities to combat crime and improve public safety.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to professional, proactive and people-centred policing in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, while the Council Chairman reiterated the Local Government’s readiness to support the Command’s efforts towards a safer and more secure Ethiope West.
