FIC Report (Ebonyi State) – The wife of the Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs. Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru, has commended the President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) and wife of the Chief of Army Staff, Hajiya Dr. Safiyyah Hassan Shaibu, for her exemplary leadership and commitment to the welfare and empowerment of women through the association’s programmes and initiatives.

Mrs. Nwifuru gave the commendation when the NAOWA President paid her a courtesy visit at her office in Centenary City, Abakaliki, alongside the association’s national executives and members.

Welcoming the delegation, the First Lady expressed appreciation to Dr. Shaibu for the visit and praised NAOWA for its sustained efforts in promoting the welfare of military families, empowering women and supporting vulnerable groups across the country.

She described Dr. Shaibu’s dedication to humanitarian service as inspiring and worthy of commendation.

Mrs. Nwifuru also expressed gratitude for the award presented to her by the association in recognition of her contributions to the development of Ebonyi State and her commitment to improving the lives of women, children and other vulnerable persons.

She described the honour as both humbling and motivating, pledging to remain committed to programmes that promote the welfare of the less privileged and enhance the well-being of families across the state.

The First Lady stressed the need for stronger collaboration between government and organisations such as NAOWA to advance initiatives that promote family welfare, women’s empowerment, peace and sustainable development.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Shaibu said the delegation came to strengthen the cordial relationship between NAOWA and the Office of the First Lady of Ebonyi State while acknowledging Mrs. Nwifuru’s remarkable contributions to the welfare of women and children.

She commended the First Lady’s people-oriented initiatives and humanitarian interventions, noting that her passion for empowering women, supporting vulnerable groups and improving livelihoods aligns with NAOWA’s vision of building stronger families and more resilient communities.

She said, the award presented to Mrs. Nwifuru was in recognition of her outstanding leadership, selfless service and unwavering commitment to the development of Ebonyi State and the advancement of women.

She expressed confidence that the partnership between NAOWA and the Office of the First Lady would continue to deliver meaningful benefits for military families and the wider society.
