FIC Report (Oyo State) – The Nigerian military this evening handed over the pupils, students and teachers, who were rescued from the terrorists’ captivity in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State to the State Government. This follows the completion of a 48-hour period of medical observation and evaluation of the rescued victims.

The victims, who regained their freedom on Friday July 10th, 2026 after spending guerelling 56 days in captivity, received medical care, psychological assessment, and psychosocial support at the Headquarters of the 2 Division Nigerian Army Medical Services, Odogbo Barracks, Ibadan.

The handover marks the conclusion of the military’s immediate post-rescue care, and the beginning of the victims’ reintegration process, which would now be coordinated by the Oyo State Government in collaboration with their families and relevant support agencies.

Governor Seyi Makinde has said that he would to address the people of Oyo State and Nigerians in a statewide broadcast shortly. During the broadcast, he is expected to provide further details on the rescue operation, update the public on the victims’ condition, and outline the government’s plans for their rehabilitation and reunification with their families.
