The Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, SAN, has intensified efforts to position Nigerian youth at the forefront of the nation’s innovation ecosystem by seeking a strategic partnership with the Federal Ministry of Youth Development for the planned launch and nationwide deployment of the Youth and Students in Innovation (YSI) Intervention Programme.

During a meeting with the Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, Dr. Udeh briefed his counterpart on the objectives of the YSI initiative, describing it as a transformative platform designed to identify, nurture and empower young innovators and students with the skills, mentorship and opportunities required to drive Nigeria’s innovation-led economic growth. He commended the Minister on his commitment to youth development and his strategic role in mobilising young Nigerians for national transformation.

In his response, Comrade Olawande welcomed the initiative and expressed the Federal Ministry of Youth Development’s readiness to collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology to ensure the successful implementation of the programme. He reaffirmed his Ministry’s commitment to supporting youth-focused interventions that promote innovation, entrepreneurship, skills development and sustainable job creation for Nigerian youths.

The Youth Minister further pledged to facilitate the involvement of Mr. Seyi Tinubu by recommending his recognition and appointment as a Champion of the Youth and Students in Innovation (YSI) Programme, in view of his contributions to youth empowerment and engagement across the country.

Both Ministers agreed to deepen institutional collaboration to expand opportunities for Nigerian youths and students, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda of building a globally competitive, innovation-driven economy.
