The Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs (FMSDIGA) recently received representatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) as part of the Commission’s nationwide deployment of the Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS) and the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) Effectiveness Index (AEI).
The visit was aimed at assessing the Ministry’s compliance with ethics, integrity, and transparency standards in line with the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000. The exercise also evaluated the effectiveness of the Ministry’s Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) in promoting accountability, transparency, and good governance.
During the engagement, the ICPC representatives explained that the assessment is not merely a survey but a comprehensive institutional evaluation designed to strengthen internal control systems, improve operational efficiency, and reinforce public confidence in government institutions. They encouraged the Ministry to sustain best practices that promote integrity, transparency, and accountability across all departments.
Speaking on behalf of the Ministry, the Permanent Secretary reaffirmed FMSDIGA’s unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct, transparency, and accountability. The Permanent Secretary assured the ICPC team of the Ministry’s continued cooperation in implementing anti-corruption initiatives and institutional reforms that support the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the promotion of good governance.
The visit concluded with interactive discussions on strategies for enhancing institutional compliance, strengthening the Ministry’s Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), and improving service delivery through effective governance practices. FMSDIGA expressed appreciation to the ICPC delegation for its continued support and guidance in fostering a culture of integrity and accountability within the public service.
