FIC Report (Kano State) – The Kano State Police Command will mark the 2026 International Youth Day with a series of activities aimed at strengthening police-community relations and encouraging greater youth participation in crime prevention.

The programme, being organised in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, is themed “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.”

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, said the activities would commence on Tuesday with a free medical outreach at Sharada Phase II Quarters in Kano Municipal Local Government Area.

According to him, the programme will culminate on Wednesday with a youth dialogue at the Command Headquarters, Bompai, where young people will engage with police authorities and Divisional Police Officers on security, crime prevention, public trust, responsible citizenship and police-youth partnerships.

The command is also set to launch a campaign tagged “My Future Is Greater Than Political and Digital Thuggery,” aimed at discouraging youths from engaging in political violence, electoral thuggery, digital manipulation and other forms of exploitation.

The youth dialogue is expected to attract youth groups, students, lawyers, civil society organisations, journalists, media influencers, persons with special needs, young footballers, marketers and representatives of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, among other stakeholders.

CP Bakori reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive and community-oriented policing, urging youths to shun violence and criminality.
