FIC REPORT (EDO STATE) – Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has given contractors two weeks to complete the temporary facilities earmarked for the immediate operationalisation of the Nigerian Army’s 83 Division in Benin, as work intensifies at the Teboga site.
The Governor issued the timeline on Monday during an inspection of ongoing rehabilitation and development work at the facility in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the State.
Okpebholo said environmental sanitation, rehabilitation of existing structures and other preparatory works were already underway, while contractors had promised to deploy additional bulldozers to accelerate construction.
The 83 Division is one of four new Nigerian Army divisions approved by President Bola Tinubu, alongside the 5 Division in Makurdi, 9 Division in Ilorin and 10 Division in Jalingo.
The Governor expressed confidence that the facility would be ready within the next two weeks, adding that alternative temporary office spaces were available if required for the division’s immediate take-off.
