The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology (FMIST), Dr. Mukhtar Yawale Muhammad, mni, has emphasized the need for Nigeria to strengthen the connection between innovative ideas, technological solutions and tangible national development.
Dr. Mukhtar stated this when he received the Executive Director of Divine Mission for Chris Amani Nigeria Limited, DMCA, Mr. Ubung Umo, who led a delegation on a visit to his office in Abuja.
The Permanent Secretary described the visit as an opportunity to examine how innovative ideas and private-sector initiatives could contribute to addressing some of the challenges confronting the nation.
According to him, the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology is committed to creating an enabling environment where Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) can be translated into practical solutions, economic opportunities and improved quality of life for Nigerians.
He stressed that innovation should not remain at the level of ideas or presentations, but should be supported through appropriate mechanisms that can facilitate development, validation, adoption, commercialization and wider deployment. Noting that the complexity of Nigeria’s development challenges requires stronger collaboration among government institutions, the private sector, research institutions, innovators and other relevant stakeholders.
The PS encouraged the company to continue developing its initiative while exploring areas of collaboration with relevant departments and agencies of the Ministry.
He also reiterated the Ministry’s readiness to engage with organizations whose initiatives have the potential to support Nigeria’s development through STI.
Earlier, the Executive Director of Divine Mission for Chris Amabi Nigeria Limited, Mr. Ubung Umo, expressed appreciation to the Permanent Secretary for granting them the opportunity to present its initiative to the Ministry.
He expressed the organization’s willingness to explore opportunities for collaboration with the Ministry and other relevant stakeholders.
