As public institutions nationwide mark the Year 2026 Customer Service Week under the inspiring theme “The Extra Mile,” the SERVICOM Office, Presidency, has lauded the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) for its unwavering commitment to citizen-focused digital governance.

Reaffirming its dedication to fostering a people-first digital economy, the Agency successfully marked the culmination of the celebrations with a grand Team Building, Prizes, Awards, and Recognition Event. Centered around the global theme, the vibrant gathering brought together top management, esteemed guests from the SERVICOM Office, Presidency, and staff across all departments and zonal offices to celebrate institutional excellence, teamwork, and outstanding contributions to public service delivery.

Delivering the official goodwill message on behalf of the Ag. National Coordinator/CEO, the SERVICOM Head of Operations, Mrs. Ngozi Akinbodewa, commended the Agency’s leadership for setting aside the celebratory week to “recognise frontline personnel, such as help desk officers, clearance and registration desk staff, and contact centre agents, who cater to public needs throughout the year.”

Analysing the symbolism behind the 2026 theme, she explained that the classic road sign logo and intentional color palette, featuring Royal Blue for the trust and dependability expected of an agency driving Nigeria’s digital transformation, and Bright Orange for human connection, collectively embody the journey of surpassing expectations. She stressed that “going the extra mile means proactively anticipating customer needs instead of waiting for complaints, guiding applicants smoothly through IT clearances and registrations, showing deep empathy to first-time digital users, persons with disabilities, and rural dwellers, and taking complete ownership of pending requests until full resolution.”

Furthermore, Mrs. Lawal noted that the service-driven spirit aligned naturally with NITDA’s core statutory mandates. “In IT regulation, it translates to clear and timely guidance for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and contractors; in IT clearance, it ensures fast and transparent processing; in digital skills and internet governance, it guarantees patient support and step-by-step guidance for MDAs registering on the.gov.ng domain.” The Ag. National Coordinator emphasised that those achievements require essential professional qualities, including “proactiveness, transparency, accountability, and seamless inter-departmental teamwork to eliminate administrative bottlenecks and leverage paperless online innovations.” She expressed confidence that NITDA’s management would continue to make its internal workforce feel valued through meaningful employee engagement, recognising that supported staff were vital to delivering world-class service to citizens and businesses alike, while reaffirming the SERVICOM Office’s readiness to continuously partner with the Agency.

“Going the extra mile is not an occasional effort but a daily commitment to excellence,” the Director-General stated, urging personnel to “embody the core values of putting people first, driving innovation, and maintaining absolute professionalism.”

Earlier in her welcome address, Head of the Reform Coordination and Service Improvement Unit (RCSIU)/NITDA’s Nodal Officer, Mrs. Tariundu Ndoni warmly welcomed the SERVICOM delegation and highlighted that “going the extra mile serves as a vital call to action for public servants to surpass expectations and deliver meaningful value in their daily duties.” She explained that “combining team-building exercises with staff awards creates a practical expression of service excellence, reinforcing trust, unity, and mutual collaboration across all operational tiers.” Mrs. Ndoni expressed profound gratitude to the Director-General as well as top management for their unwavering leadership and continuous support. She was also full of commendation for members of the RCSI Unit for their dedication and urged all staff to make Going the Extra Mile their permanent cultural benchmark in serving the Nigerian public.
