BENUE (FIC Markudi) – Nigerians have been called upon to show patriotism by patronizing made in Nigeria products and services, as a way of growing the nations’ economy.

This call was made at a one-day sensitization programme, organized by the National Orientation Agency (NOA), held at the Conference Hall of the Federal Secretariat, Makurdi on Wednesday, 17th of July, 2019.

The programme tagged ‘Patronize made-in-Nigeria products and services’ drew participants from various Federal Departments and Agencies; the private sector and sundry businessmen and women, also in attendance.

While delivering a lecture at the event, the President of the Benue Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mining and Agriculture (BECCIMA), Dr. Paul Ubwa, urged both the government and people to patronize locally made goods and services, as a way to grow the Nigerian economy and create wealth.

He further urged Nigerians to moderate their appetite for foreign goods and services as developed countries patronize their own goods and services which has developed and sustained their economies.

Mr. Oyima Aluu, the Director of Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) in Benue State, in his contribution, said patronizing locally made goods has a multiplier effect in various ways and that Micro, Small And Medium Enterprises, are the biggest employers of labour and should be encouraged through buying of their products and services.

He assured that SMEDAN will continue to provide the needed support to help grow local production through the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises through training and sourcing of loan facility for them.

He finally revealed that the Agency has concluded plans to hold a three-week boot Camp to train would-be entrepreneurs in Benue State.
