Abia State Celebrates Children’s Day With The Theme “A better future for every child”

FIC Report (Abia State) – On 27th May, 2022, Abia State Government celebrated Children’s Day with the Theme “A better future for every child”.

Various schools in Abia State, Private and Government owned came out enmasse prepared to display their various skills and abilities.

The Governor of Abia State, who was represented by the Commissioner for Sports, Honorable Karibe Ojibe in his speech declared that the future of Abia State is bright and our future is assured.

He said”Our future will bring good tidings for our investment today”.

He further declared that our children are our future and that their future in Abia State is assured.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Deaconess Nna Rose Urenta ,whose Ministry on behalf of Abia State hosted Abia 2022 Children’s Day, in her opening remarks stated that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is a child education friendly Governor.

According to her ,”Our education friendly Governor has initiated an ongoing action to protect children from any form of violence or child labour”.

She emphatically restated that it is now a criminal offence for an Abia child not to be enrolled in school and charged parents and children to make sure they are educated.

Interacting with a parent who identified herself as Mrs. Ugo Esther Chinwendu on how to enhance a better future for every child,she advised that educational system should be all inclusive maintaining that children’s education should also include learning of skills and craft that will enable them face the future challenges of unemployment.

The highlights of the event were presentation of cultural dances by various schools,drama presentation, national parade by Nigeria Police School, Umuahia, March Pass among others.

Awards were also presented to schools that did exceptionally well in March pass and other activities.
