The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh has inaugurated a project coordinating unit for effective project implementation and to keep records of how loans are been applied for and utilized in the Ministry.
The Minister while inaugurating the 7 man team on Monday in Abuja charged them to ensure professionalism in the management of loans and the implementation of projects for which they are designed for.
‘’The reason the PCU is coming on board is to guarantee the monitoring of the Ministry’s Loans and how it is been used’’ Minister said.
He also said that the Unit will help keep proper records of information on how loans are been applied and used for projects in the Ministry.
He stressed the need for transparency, accountability and due process in the management of the Ministry’s Loans.
Earlier, the team Leader of the Unit, Dr Aisha Ndayako Mohammed assured the Honourable Minister of their commitment and dedication to the task ahead.
She pledged to evolve generic methods of imputing data, access to information for all their projects.
Dr. Aisha also said plans were underway to develop a functional website for the unit.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Bukar Hassan who was also present at the inauguration said the unit will ensure efficient service delivery.
The PCU which use to be in the Ministry before it became redundant  is responsible for all the implementation and coordination of loans and projects in the Ministry.
