………Urges Political Stakeholders to respect principle of eight-year power shift between North & South.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and the Grand Patron of the North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network for Tinubu/Shettima 2027, Senator George Akume CON, and six Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the North-Central Region, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have unanimously endorsed the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for a second term in office in 2027.

The commitment for the re-election of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima was consummated during the North-Central Grand Rally and Endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima held on Saturday, 10th October, 2026 in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

The SGF formally proposed President Tinubu as the sole candidate of the North-Central political gathering for the 2027 Presidential election to the Governors from the North-Central extraction and key political stakeholders, which they all agreed to the affirmative to support the re-election of President Tinubu.
“By the authority of this great congregation, I, Senator George Akume, hereby propose that the people of the North-Central States meeting here have resolved that, come 2027, our sole candidate is His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. There is no other candidate,” he declared.

SGF called for continuity in the country’s leadership that President Tinubu should be allowed to complete the eight-year tenure envisaged under the power-rotation understanding reached by Political Leaders in Kaduna in 1999. He maintained that the arrangement was intended to promote political balance and understanding between the two major regions of the country.

Addressing the mammoth crowd at the grand rally, he described President Tinubu as a leader who combines ambitious vision with decisive action. He cited the ongoing Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project and the proposed Badagry-Sokoto Highway as examples of major infrastructure initiatives that, according to him, could unlock economic opportunities, improve connectivity and stimulate development across different parts of the country.

Akume also highlighted the President’s approach to fiscal federalism, noting that increased allocations to States and Local Governments had strengthened the capacity of subnational administrations to address developmental needs. He argued that the administration’s decisions in the financial sector and its commitment to major infrastructure projects reflected a determination to pursue long-term economic transformation.

On the removal of the petrol subsidy, the SGF acknowledged that the policy had been a longstanding subject of debate among political leaders and Presidential candidates. He described the decision to implement it as one that required political courage, while cautioning against campaign promises to reverse the policy without a clear assessment of the economic implications.

The SGF further pointed to developments in the education sector, including the establishment of additional Universities and the introduction of student loan arrangements, as areas in which the administration sought to widen access to tertiary education. He said such interventions were important to ensuring that young Nigerians had opportunities to pursue higher education irrespective of their family backgrounds.

In his welcome remarks, the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State and the Chairman of the North-Central Governors Forum declared on behalf of the Forum the unwavering resolve of the six APC Governors of North Central Region to support the re-election of President Tinubu to continue with the momentous strides his administration has begun in building a virile and prosperous Nigeria.

Sule, the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State and the Chairman of North Central Governors Forum hereby second the motion that all the APC Governors of the North Central States: Plateau, Benue, Niger, Kogi, Kwara and Nasarawa States, as well as FCT to support a man who has improved our oil production from less than one million to over 1.8 million barrels per day, who have improved our foreign reserve from less than $20 billion to more than $50 billion, to a man who has improved the capitalization from less than N80 trillion to now N180 trillion, a man who has introduced NELFund for education, a man who has introduced all the infrastructure you are seeing today, I hereby move for the re-election of Sen.
