FIC Report (Anambra State) – The Anambra State Police Command has commenced joint operations with the Anambra State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Delta State Police Command to address traffic congestion at the First and Second Niger Bridges during the yuletide period.
The spokesman of the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who stated that the joint operation with the Delta State Police and FRSC aims to keep the road free and safe during the festive period, revealed that the proactive move was incorporated into the Operational Plan of the Commissioner of Police (CP), Nnaghe Obono Itam, following a security assessment in the state with the management of the Police Command to ensure that all potential issues are addressed.
According to SP Ikenga, the CP had visited the two bridges with the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Anambra State.
He also noted that the CP had alerted the Delta State Commissioner of Police on the need for cooperation and intensification of surveillance patrols to address any criminal tendencies or activities on the road and ensure a free flow of traffic during and after the festive season.
Ikenga also stated that the CP reaffirmed that the Anambra State Police Command would continue to explore strategies to ensure the safety of the traveling public.
He expressed the command’s commitment to consolidating the gains already made in crime prevention, restoring law and order, and improving the safety and security of lives in the state.
