FIC Report (Anambra State) – The Anambra State Police Command has announced the deployment of sixty operatives across the state to ensure adequate security, monitoring, and orderliness during the forthcoming Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.
The examination, scheduled to hold from this week will see the operatives strategically stationed at designated centres as part of proactive measures to guarantee a safe and hitch-free exercise for candidates and officials.
According to a press statement issued by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the personnel were drawn from the Command’s Safe School Unit and deployed under the Safe School Initiative, a framework designed to secure educational environments and prevent disruptions during academic activities.
SP Ikenga noted that the operatives would be assigned across key examination locations, with their operations coordinated from the eight Police Area Commands in the state and further revealed that the exercise is being supervised by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, ACP Harrison Oruruo, who is tasked with ensuring effective implementation and rapid response where necessary.
The PPRO emphasized that the deployment is aimed not only at maintaining security but also at preventing examination malpractice, crowd disorder, and any form of interference that could undermine the integrity of the exercise.
He further reassured candidates, parents, and stakeholders of their commitment to the protection of lives and property, noting that all necessary measures have been put in place to provide a conducive environment for the examination.
The police also urged candidates to conduct themselves responsibly, comply with examination guidelines, and cooperate fully with security personnel stationed at the various centres.
