ANSG Sustains Partnership with WHO, as Gov. Obiano Inaugurates Maternal Newborn Week

FIC Report (Anambra State) – Anambra State Government has re-emphasized its commitment to sustain partnership with World Health Organization (WHO) and other donor agencies, on the Health Management Sector.

Gov. Willie Obiano said this while inaugurating the 2020 National Immunisation Plus Day (NIPDs), at the Primary Health Centre, Akpo, Aguata Local Government Area (LGA) of the State. He also inaugurated the Second Round 2019 Maternal Newborn and Child Health Week (MNCHW) which he said, would be observed in all the Primary Health Centres across the State, lasting about six days.

Obiano maintained that what the State was doing was to promote health and wealthy living, noting that, water ambulances have been procured for riverine areas to ensure promotion of life as well as to facilitate proper immunisation in remote areas.

He also stated that the programme was an opportunity for parents to immunize their children, between the ages of 0 to 5 years,, noting that, since 2014, no single case of polio challenge had been recorded in Anambra State, due to the commitment on the health sector.

The Governor also cautioned against non-hygienic environment, advocating for proper hand washing, to prevent endemic challenges of Lassa fever and related health challenges. He later administered oral vaccination to children, which was part of the event.
