Auditor General’s Office, EFCC to collaborate for effective service delivery

ABUJA (Auditor General’s Office Report) – The Office of the Auditor General for the Federation and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) have expressed the need to collaborate as a team to move the country forward through their collective efforts.

According to the statement released to the press from the Auditor General’s Office, both Offices came to the conclusion when the Acting Chairman of EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Mustafa Magu, paid a courtesy visit to the Acting Auditor General of the Federation, Mrs. Florence Nwadike Anyanwu, on Tuesday October 18, 2016.

The Ag. Auditor General reaffirmed that both Offices are collaborating offices and partners in progress because they both have the mandate of accountability and transparency in government. She enumerated some of the efforts of the office to improve the quality of its reports to be at par with international standards. She also intimated that the office has also gone a step forward by uploading its reports on the office’s website once it has been laid before the National Assembly.

Mrs. Anyanwu expressed the hope that there will be regular meetings between the two offices to share technical information, for capacity building and also cooperation for forensic audit using the EFCC available capacity.

In his remarks, the Ag. EFCC Chairman acknowledged the importance of the Auditor General’s Office in the fight against corruption and also corroborated the need for collaborative work by the two offices.

Mr. Magu, therefore, advocated for a mutual Memorandum of Understanding between the two offices for effective collaborative work.
