BENUE (FIC Makurdi) – The Benue State House of Assembly, has approved the sum of Two Billion, Eleven Million, One Hundred and Sixty One Thousand, Six Hundred and Ninety-Two Naira Fifty-Five Kobo (N2,001,161,692.55), loan sourced from the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, as State Counterpart Contribution to the Universal Basic Education Commission, (UBEC), as intervention projects.
This was made known on Tuesday, 17th September, 2019 by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Titus Uba, who read the correspondence from the Benue State Government on the floor of the House, explaining the need for the above loan. Hon. Agnes Uloko, Member representing Ado State Constituency, moved for approval of the loan considering the need to improve schools in Benue State.
Earlier, the Governor of the State, Samuel Ortom, had forwarded a bill of equity, for a loan facility from the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), for wet season farming, to the tune of Five Hundred and Thirty-Two Million, Eight Hundred and Twenty Eight Thousand, Seven Hundred and Fifty Naira (N532,828,750.00) only.
