The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), in conjunction with BPSR has organized a one day seminar themed ‘National Strategy on Public Service’,aimed at strengthening and brainstorming on National Strategy on Public service reform initiatives.
The Director General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Mr. Dasuki Arabi described the creation of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Reforms Coordination and Service Improvement Department (RCSI) as a milestone in the FCT Adminstration.
The bureau boss in his presentation added that the creation of the department will not only strengthen interaction and engagements but will help create reform initiatives that will help reduce the bureaucratic neck within the FCTA.
“The newly created reform coordination department will serve as a focal point for driving all changes, reforms, innovations and improvement efforts within the ministry in line with our overall framework in a bid to reposition the adminstration for efficient and effective service delivery. However, the department will appropriately carry out its responsibilities, and will provide feedback on implementation progress to the bureau. Also, a community of practice will be formed to share experiences and information” he noted.
While tasking the department to carry out its responsibilities diligently, the DG called on relevant stakeholders within and outside the adminstration to team up and work together in attaining the goals and vision of the FCT.
The FCT Minister Mal. Muhammad Musa Bello commended the FCT administration for the creation of the new reforms department and also charged civil servant main the FCT to work with passion.
“This is a welcome development for the FCTA and I would like to remind the civil servants within the FCT that they are ultimately accountable to the people as such they should focus on delivering good quality service to members of the public. Similarly, I want to urge all civil servants to focus their attention on the mechanism that will strengthen institutions, encourage professionalism, curb corruption and eliminate all other ills that have hindered the provision of acceptable services to the citizenry” he stressed.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, FCTA, Mr. Chiyeaka Ohaa added that this occasion will help identify reforms that are key in bringing about effectiveness and service delivery.
In his words; “we in the FCT Adminstration are a model for the country and we must always maintain that enviable position through proactiveness, innovation and improvement in our respective offices”.
