………..BPSR Calls for Active Collaboration to Strengthen Nigeria’s Fight Against Corruption.
The Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) has called on state governments and the private sector to play an active role in reinforcing Nigeria’s ongoing battle against corruption. This was the key message delivered during a Validation Workshop on the Implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) held on Monday in Abuja.
In his opening remarks, the Director-General of the Bureau, Mr. Dasuki Arabi, stressed the significance of multi-stakeholder collaboration for the successful implementation of the NACS. He acknowledged the valuable contributions of the Federal Government, Anti-Corruption Agencies, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and international partners in advancing the fight against corruption.
The workshop provided an opportunity to review progress made in implementing the anti-corruption strategy and to identify strategies for enhancing its impact on governance and public service delivery.
“The success of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy relies on the collective efforts of all sectors of society, including state governments and the private sector. We must collaborate to strengthen institutions, improve transparency, and promote accountability at all levels of governance,” Arabi said.
The Director-General also highlighted that BPSR, in collaboration with a private consultant, had conducted a research survey to assess the impact of the anti-corruption strategy and recommend actionable strategies to further strengthen anti-corruption efforts nationwide.
Arabi reiterated BPSR’s commitment to building capacity at both federal and state levels, noting that the Bureau is working closely with state governments to replicate successful reforms implemented at the federal level. He emphasized the importance of reforms in public financial management and the implementation of the National Ethics and Integrity Policy.
He further called for greater collaboration with the private sector, urging businesses to embrace a culture of integrity and transparency to ensure the effectiveness of anti-corruption measures in both public and private institutions.
The Director-General concluded by urging all participants to actively engage in discussions and contribute insights that will help strengthen the nation’s anti-corruption framework, improve governance, and foster sustainable economic growth.
