The Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Dr. Adebowale A. Adedokun, today welcomed the Director-General of Gombe State Due Process Bureau, Engr. Mohammed Dauda Abubakar, who visited the BPP headquarters in Abuja.

The purpose of the visit was to explore collaboration opportunities and share the innovative steps taken by the Gombe State Due Process Bureau in transforming the state’s public procurement processes through the use of technology. Engr. Abubakar highlighted the development of a digital platform designed to enhance procurement transparency and efficiency. This includes a website that provides comprehensive information on contracts and projects, as well as a mobile app and dashboard for real-time monitoring and management.

During the meeting, Engr. Abubakar emphasized the importance of integrating technology into procurement processes to tackle existing challenges and ensure greater accountability in project execution. He stressed that Gombe State has made significant strides in its procurement processes by adopting new technologies, which could be replicated at the national level.

Dr. Adebowale expressed strong interest in Gombe State’s innovations and stated that the BPP is eager to adopt these technological solutions for public procurement on a national scale. He noted the potential benefits of applying these advancements, especially in areas like Community-Based Procurement and project monitoring, which could help track projects from inception to completion across the country.

The BPP DG also suggested that the Bureau engage in an advocacy visit to Gombe State’s Governor, His Excellency Alh. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and the State House of Assembly to further brief them on the new procurement process and its broader implications. He commended the leadership demonstrated by Gombe State and emphasized that the BPP is committed to collaborating with the Gombe State Due Process Bureau to enhance procurement practices and governance across Nigeria.

Both the BPP and Gombe State Due Process Bureau reiterated their commitment to this collaboration, which will foster greater transparency, efficiency, and accountability in Nigeria’s public procurement system.
