
FIC Report (Delta State) – The leadership of the Committee of Heads of Federal Government Establishments (COHEADS) Delta State Chapter, led by its Chairman and State Meteorological Manager, Nigerian Meteorological Agency NiMet, Engr. Kennedy Onyenobi, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Delta State Police Commissioner CP Yemi Oyeniyi psc, acipm, mnips in his office at the Command’s Headquarters, Asaba Delta State.
Speaking during the visit, the COHEADS Chairman thanked the CP and his Management team for the warm reception and commended the CP for his relentless efforts in ensuring peaceful atmosphere in the protection of lives and property across the State.
Engr. Onyenobi said they were at the CP’s Office to formally welcome him to Delta State, familiarize with him and also brief him on the existence of COHEADS which he noted, is a forum of interaction by the headship and officers of Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the State which he stated exist across the thirty-six States of the federation.
The Chairman further noted that the forum provides a platform for MDAs operating in the State to collaborate , share ideas and understand the mandates, functions and roles of various MDAs with a view to enhancing effective collaboration aimed at ensuring the realization of government programmes and policies in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration.
The COHEADS Chairman who was accompanied by other executive members, briefed the CP on the activities and programmes of COHEADS Delta State Chapter and requested the CP to send another representative as according to him, the Officer who used to represent the CP at the Forum was recently posted.
He therefore, requested for a replacement, acknowledging that the Nigeria Police Force had been constantly active and supportive of COHEADS’ activities and programmes in Delta State.
Responding, the Commissioner of Police CP. Yemi Oyeniyi psc, acipm, mnips welcomed COHEADS leadership and expressed appreciation for the visit while affirming his willingness and commitment to identify with COHEADS.
He promised to detail a representative and noted that COHEADS remains a vital partner in the collective effort to curb crime and criminality through enlightenment and sensitization role of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), in enlightening the youths especially teenage boys and girls on the effects and dangers of drug abuse which he noted, disposes increasing number of adolescent youths into crimes following their indulgence in drugs and other related narcotic substances.
The CP also noted the complementing role of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation in assisting with credible information to the public in addressing fake news especially unverified fake reports from some social media platforms.
