The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development has handed over three trucks of rice and one truck of vegetable oil to the Kogi State Government, to cushion effects of the lock-down as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq, through the Head, Special Duties of the Ministry, Nadia Muhammed-Soso handed over the relief items to the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Chief Edward Onoja, at the Kogi State Government House.
The Minister enjoined the State to ensure that the rice and vegetable oil get to the targeted beneficiaries, to cushion the effect of the lockdown.
According to the Minister, the palliatives came directly from President Muhammadu Buhari to all States of the Federation to cushion the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the less privileged in the country.
In his remarks, the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja appreciated the kind gesture of the Federal government with a promised to ensure the food stuff get to the right persons.
During a courtesy call on the Governor, His Excellency, Yahaya Bello, he appreciated the Ministry and reiterated the necessity of the creation of the Ministry by Mr. President. He went further to say that the palliatives will be distributed to the people of Kogi state in addition to what the State has been doing.
