The Honorable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, on Saturday 25thApril, 2020, led the Nigerian Petroleum Corporation and its partners Chevron Nigeria Limited ( in the upstream) and the Bovas and Company Limited (in the downstream ), to distribute medical consumables, equipment and ambulances to Kano state.
This gesture the Honorable Minister said, was to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and its attendant impact on critical sectors of the nation’s economy.
He informed that the SGF had led similar effort in Abuja, stating also that NNPC and partners had subsequently made donations to Rivers State, adding also, he was in Lagos with the Honorable Minister of State for Health to present medical equipment and ambulances donated by participants in this initiative to states that had been affected by the pandemic in the South West zone.
According to Chief Timipre Sylva, “Considering supply chain constraints, all committed items cannot be delivered and distributed on the same day across the nation” He said, “however NNPC and Partners will continue to extend this gesture to other states that are affected by this pandemic in the North West Zone and across the nation”.
Items presented for distribution to Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, by the Honorable Minister of Petroleum Resources and his Partners include:

100 PPE Shoe Covers
2,000 PPE disposable caps
500 Medimec Surgical face masks
The Minister commended NNPC, the donor companies and other participants in this initiative for standing up to be counted at these trying times.
