ABUJA (Interior Ministry’ Report)- The Minister of Interior, Lt Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (Rtd), has described the out-going Director Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary (DOOPS) in the Ministry, Alhaji Muhammadu Maccido, as an excellent and dedicated civil servant, with whom he enjoyed a robust relationship.
Gen. Dambazau, who spoke at the formal ceremony marking the disengagement of Alhaji Maccido from Service after 35 years, described the outgoing DOOPS as a consummate administrator, a loyal officer and a core professional, whose attention to finer details set him apart from the pack, emphasising, “I worked with you with full satisfaction”.
While stating that the retiring officer had a meritorious service, the Minister congratulated him on attaining the age of retirement, and envisioned that he would still serve Nigeria at a higher level where the nation would tap into his wealth of knowledge and experience.
He commended him on his stellar performance as DOOPS, which would be difficult to match.
In an opening remark, the incoming DOOPS, Dr Rufa’i Kawu Attahiru, congratulated Alhaji Maccido on his retirement, adding that he had a satisfactory career run in all ramifications, a sentiment echoed by the other directors.
He described his predecessor as an honest, charismatic and unassuming officer, whose exemplary leadership and concern for the welfare of the staff could be attested to by the Management and Staff of the Ministry.
Dr Attahiru also commended the Minister for providing an enabling environment and giving enough latitude to staff to elicit optimal performance from them, citing the performance of the retiring officer as a case in point.
Responding, the outgoing Director, Alhaji Muhammadu Maccido, commended the Minister for the opportunity to serve, brotherhood and support, and thanked the staff for their cooperation.
He described the incoming DOOPS as a seasoned administrator and an honest gentleman as well, and enjoined the management and staff to cooperate with him to move the Ministry forward.
