Dingyadi advises IPMAN and ADITOP Members to shun negative activities

The Honourable Minister of Police Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi has charged members of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) and Association of Distributors and Transporters of Petroleum Products in Nigeria (ADITOP) to shun negative activities that would undermine the economy of the nation.

He gave the charge when the executive of the two bodies led by Alhaji Mohammed Lawal Danzaki, (Association of Distributors and Transporters of Petroleum Products in Nigeria (ADITOP), and Elder Chinedu Okoronkwo, National President, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry’s Headquarters in Abuja.

The Minister said that the Ministry is ready to work with the associations to curb any negative activities that would hinder the sector. He pointed out that the Ministry would facilitate necessary support to the group to curtail saboteurs.

According to him, we are aware of the various negative activities going on in the business, and during a visit to the deport, I saw a number of trunks that were arrested by the police, and quite a number of them have been charged to court. We rely on you to discourage these negative activities and we will do our best to encourage all those doing legitimate business and we expect you to locate those who intend to bend the rules”.

He said, “We are aware that most of our refineries are not working at full capacity and the country heavily relies on these trunks to move the products to every nook and cranny of this country so we have left virtually to work with you as well as police officers to work with members to curtail any negative activities that will hinder the progress of your work.”

In his remarks, the National President, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Elder Chinedu Okoronkwo pointed out that the synergy between IPMAN and ADITOP had made them agree to work together and bring to fore the vices in the industry that government is not aware of.

In his words, “Some of the tanker drivers have grown wings that they cannot control and they caused problems which were heap on the marketers and the owner of the trunks. We have gotten a consultant that would introduce technology that avail us the opportunity to monitor trunks in the sector.”

Earlier, the National President, Association of Distributors and Transporters of Petroleum Products in Nigeria (ADITOP), Alhaji Mohammed Lawal Danzaki stated that they are in the Ministry to introduce the association and their readiness to work together with IPMAN to achieve government policy on petroleum products adding that the Ministry is in a good position to help them maintain law and order in the sector.
