Dr. Shittu charges ICT working team on Ministry’s Budget

aThe Honourable Minister of Communications, Dr. Adebayo Shittu has charged the ICT Sector Working Team of his Ministry to provide a good budget that will support the realization of government agenda in the ICT sector.

He stated this during the official inauguration of the ICT Sector Working Team at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Abuja.

The Minister said that the Working Team should take the assignment seriously and ensure that a good job is done for the Ministry’s budget in view of the fact that their work will be subjected to scrutiny and validation by Sector Working Team that will prepare a report for signature.

In his words. “timelines and milestones have been prescribed for the working team which we should work assiduously to meet. I am already aware that some of our officers participated actively in the budget training conducted by the Ministry of Budget and National Planning”

He acknowledged that a consultant from the Ministry of Budget and Planning has been working with the Ministry’s officers to help collate inputs to the budget proposal for 2019.

Earlier, the Consultant from Federal Ministry of Budget and Planning, Dr. Chiichii Ashue disclosed that the Committee has done most of what was expected of them such as; provide technical guidance to MDAs staff, Clarification on the submission of MTSS-ERGP, the rebranding of the Ministry in the next budget etc. He further added that there has been co-operation from directors for overall approach of consistency.

The Terms of Reference of the Sector Working Team include authoring the 2019-2021 MTSS-ERGP, identifying and collating projects, undertaking projects prioritization to fit 2019-2020 MTSS ERGP, updating the projects’ costing and obtaining the sector’s budget ceiling from Budget Office of the Federation among others.
