Edo NUJ Hosts Bob Marley Night, Bestows Excellence Award on ECTS MD

FIC Report (Edo State) – The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Edo State Council played host to a vibrant celebration dubbed Bob Marley Night at the Council Secretariat on Monday May 11th, 2026, during which they honored the Managing Director of Edo City Transport Services (ECTS), Barrister Festus Ehimuan, with an Excellence Award in recognition of his outstanding Professionalism and contributions to the State’s Transport Sector.

The event, marked by lively Musical performances and a festive atmosphere, was organized to celebrate the legacy of reggae Legend Bob Marley. During the ceremony, the NUJ Edo State Council presented Barr. Ehimuan with the award, acknowledging his impactful leadership and dedication to improving public transportation in Edo State.

In his acceptance speech, Barr. Ehimuan expressed gratitude and dedicated the award to Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, highlighting his support in creating opportunities for meaningful contributions to the transport industry. He also lauded the Governor’s “SHINE Agenda” for its positive influence on various sectors and its role in making life more affordable for residents.

Barr. Ehimuan announced plans to implement a digital payment system for ECTS, aimed at eliminating revenue leakages and boosting operational efficiency. He urged residents to embrace this innovation, emphasizing its long-term benefits for the community.

With a distinguished academic background and a track record of service, Barr. Ehimuan has earned recognition for his integrity and leadership.

In his remarks, Edo State NUJ Chairman, Dr. Festus Alenkhe, reaffirmed the Union’s commitment to celebrating Bob Marley’s enduring legacy inspires audiences worldeide and urged Journalists to uphold Professionalism through Balanced and Ethical reporting. He assured continued support for Journalists rights, safety and steering clear of sensationalism.

The evening was filled with reggae performances by the Edo NUJ Entertainment Team and a live band, creating a lively environment of music and camaraderie.

Notable attendees included Chief Adun of Bob-Izua Conglomerate and Dr. Patrick Ebojele, the Chief Press Secretary to the Edo State government, Journalists, among others. The celebration successfully combined cultural tribute with recognition of leadership excellence, reinforcing the importance of professionalism and Community Service within Edo State.
