FIC Report (Imo State) – The Rector, Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Doctor (Dr) Brasilia Nkemdilim Igbokwe has announced that the Institution has been accredited to teach Chinese Language as well as cleared eighty percent (80% ) logjams of fifty thousand (50,000) of its graduands for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.
She made this known at the forty-eighth (48th) Matriculation Ceremony (2025/2026) of the school in Owerri, Imo State with over thirteen (13,000) students admitted into various disciplines.
While speaking, Dr Igbokwe, who is the sixth (6th) substantive Rector of the polytechnic, stated that the school has expanded its infrastructure with the addition of a new campus at Abaezi in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area, Imo State.
She emphasized that the institution is committed to quality education and training to contribute to the nation’s resources, adding that the school which began with a few programmes at the National Diploma level has progressed and presently offers a wide range of academic programs ; National Diploma and Higher National Diploma inclusive.
While enumerating the achievements of the school since the inception of her administration which include; rehabilitation and recovery of students’ hostel,, renovation of one thousand (1000) capacity hall among others, the Rector noted that the institution has introduced and inaugurated Parents Management Forum (PMF) to enhance the synergy between the management of the polytechnic and parents to improve students’ development and academic excellence.
Dr Igbokwe then admonished the matriculating students to study hard and be good representatives of the institution upon graduation.
The event featured award of scholarships to the female students in the male dominated courses and males in female dominated courses as well.
