Federal Government Distributes Fertilizers To Ekiti Farmers As EKSG Pledges Transparency, Accountability

FIC Report (Ekiti State) – The Federal Government has commenced distribution of fertilizers to farmers in Ekiti State through the National Agricultural Development Fund, NADF.

Ekiti State Government, which is handling the distribution, has vowed that transparency and accountability will guide the entire process.

At a stakeholders’ meeting in Ado-Ekiti, the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Ebenezer Boluwade, said the intervention must reach genuine farmers and not be cornered by a few individuals.

“The distribution must prioritise real farmers. It should benefit more farmers instead of being concentrated in few hands,” Boluwade said.

He added that while registered groups and cooperatives can collect fertilizers on behalf of members, every beneficiary must be verified with name, farm location, NIN and other details.

Boluwade urged all actors in the chain to act with diligence to ensure that only bonafide farmers benefit from the federal gesture.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Babatope Ojo, assured that the Ministry would closely monitor the exercise.

“Our joy is to see farmers thrive,” Ojo said.

Ekiti State Coordinator of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Oluwasegun Aderemi, commended the Commissioner’s transparency measures and pledged the Ministry’s effective monitoring.

Also speaking, Ekiti AFAN Chairman, Sunday Adekogbon, described the intervention as timely. He said it would boost production and food security, and assured that AFAN would ensure fair distribution to the right beneficiaries across the state.

Stakeholders at the meeting include officials of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, AFAN, Ekiti Ministry of Agriculture, NADF Monitoring & Evaluation Department as well as farmers.
