Federal Information Resource Center, Kaduna Farmers Empowered In Kaduna

In a collaborative effort by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development,(FMARD) and Kaduna State Government, farmers have been drawn from the 23 Local Government Areas of the State, to undergo a two-day training on modern fish-hatching, ranch rearing and bee-keeping techniques.

The Coordinator, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Kaduna (FMARD) Dr. Nanfa V. Timkat, in his opening remarks, commended the Ministry for the rare opportunity given to the farmers in Kaduna State. He enjoined the participants to use the training and equipment judiciously. Dr. Timkat added that, the training might get to other interested farmers in their respective communities on new improved approaches to the business.

In their Presentation, the resource persons on fish farming and bee-keeping techniques Dahiru ibn Mohammed and Adamu Mohammed, both from Kaduna Agriculture Development Agency, (KADA) drew the attention of the participants to the advantages of the training and applying the information, skills and knowledge acquired to invest wisely as the two trades have the potentials of attracting national and foreign investors, which can translate into job creation and improve farmers livelihood.

In his lecture, the beekeeping trainer, Adamu Mohammed enumerated bee products, their uses and importance.

In his closing remarks, the Director Agric service and Acting General Manager of KADA, who represented the Permanent Secretary, Kaduna State Ministry of Agriculture, Mallam Ya’u Kasimu appreciated FMARD for the gesture towards farmers in the State. He also commended Governor El-Rufai’s administration for the support given to the agency and farmers in the State.
