Federal Public Service Games: MPR Celebrates and Rewards Outstanding Staff

Dr. Nasir Sani Gwarzo's investure as Grand Patron of MPR's Sports Club

As part of activities lined up to commemorate this year’s sports week, the Ministry of Petroleum Resources on Wednesday, 8th September, 2021 rewarded staff who excelled and won medals in various sporting activities in past editions of Federal Public Service Games (FEPSGA).

Speaking at the ceremony which held at the amphitheatre, NNPC Towers, Abuja, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Dr. Nasir Sani Gwarzo, mni, said he was very happy to have come at the right time when hard work and excellence in sporting activities was being celebrated. He stated that, apart from being a unifying force, sport elevates the spirit, it gives one the enthusiasm to continue to do ones work, it increases intelligence and enhances productivity.

While congratulating athletes who won medals in previous editions of the Public Service Games, the Permanent Secretary charged them to honor the Ministry with more medals than ever before. He assured them that efforts will be made at ensuring that the Ministry participates in all sporting entries of subsequent editions of the games. Commenting on the Ministry’s monthly exercise, Gwarzo said he would be participating and implored the management and staff to always avail themselves of the benefits inherent in the jogging exercise. However, he stressed that exercises should be medically prescribed, depending on the medical conditions of individuals. He also assured of his continuous support to any process that will ensure a healthy team and make the Ministry of Petroleum Resources a shining star in FEPSGA Games.

On the Sports Club elections scheduled for Thursday, 9th September, 2021, Dr. Gwarzo appealed to all members to make the elections successful, free and fair, a joyful event devoid of rancor. He posited that the sensation after the election should be one of; “no winner, no vanquish as everybody will be a winner”.

In his remarks at the occasion, the Director, Human Resources Management of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Dr. Famous Eseduwo described the event as the first of its kind in the Ministry. He stated that the Management team deemed it necessary to recognize talents and reward those who have been representing the Ministry in sporting activities in the Federal Public Service.

Continuing, Eseduwo said; “My joy today knows no bound. I am happy to be part of the management team that had approved this initiative of recognizing talents who have been representing the Ministry”. He remarked that as Director, Human Resources Management, it was within his purview to look after sporting activities in the Ministry.The PS delivering his address at the awards ceremony

Thanking the excos of the sports club for relating well with him since his deployment to the Ministry, he enjoined all members, as they gear up for the elections of new excos to run the affairs of the club for the next four years, to carefully appraise the antecedents of contestants with a view to electing credible candidates who will sustain the good legacies of the outgoing excos.

The highlight of the event was the investiture of the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Nasir Sani Gwarzo, as the Grand Patron of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources’ Sports Club, presentation of plaques to the management team of the Ministry, recognition of the outgoing excos of the club, and presentation of plaques, medals and gifts to athletes whom have won medals in previous games.
