He expressed this when he was briefing newsmen in Benin City recently during an inspection tour of roads repair projects by FERMA.

The MD disclosed that officials of the Agency have started desilting of drainages on some federal roads in Edo State to prevent blockages and flooding of the roads.

Engr. Rafindadi added that the repair work was part of FERMA ’12 Weeks Programme” being carried out to ensure accessibility and make the roads motorable across the State.

The Agency has carried out repairs on some bridges and failed portions of roads in the State including the Benin Bypass, Murtala Mohammed way and the Ugonoba bridge along the Benin – Asaba dual carriageway.

The Managing Director added that even though there was paucity of funds in the Agency, any available funds would be used to fix critical roads across the country.

He said, “sometime last year, we got some funding, and we quickly identified some very bad areas on federal roads across the country. We used the fund to carry out repairs so that we can prove our point”. That was what we did between January and March in our 12 weeks programme.
