The Federal Government has pledged its commitment to ensuring that the National Defence College becomes a World Class Institution in capacity building of the Nigerian Military and personnel of related Security Agencies.
The Minister of Defence Maj. General Bashir Salihi Magashi stated this when he received the Newly Appointed Commandant of the College, Rear Adm. Bamidele Daji and the management team of the College who paid him a visit in Ship House, Abuja.
The minister who is also the Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Defence College noted that the Institution is continually up scaling the potentials of not only the Nigerian Armed Forces but also the Armed Forces of other countries around the world, especially Africa and Asia.
“We are encouraged by your output so far. Our country is supporting other Nations through your corporate responsibilities and we are not relenting in the growth and development of the National Defence College”, he remarked.
Gen. Magashi assured the Commandant that the Ministry is doing everything possible to see to eventual completion of the permanent site of the college located in Abuja.
Earlier in his remarks, the Commandant of the College Rear Adm. Oladele Bamidele Daji had informed the Minister that the college is correctly handling College 29, and they are on the verge of completing the second semester.
He announced that the Minister is expected to deliver a lecture on the perspective of the Ministry Of Defence and its structure, as part of the graduation program of course 29 slated for the 6th of May 2021.
Admiral Daji solicited for the support of the Ministry of Defence as it prepares for the hosing of the ECOWAS Peace Support Operation In Exercise Simulation code named JIGUI IV.
The National Defence College is the apex military training institution for the Nigerian Armed Forces, and a Centre of Excellence for peace support operations at the strategic level in West Africa.
