FG Mourns  Slains  NSCDC and other Security Personnel

The Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo condoled with the families of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Police and Military personal, who were ambushed on Monday at Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo state, while on official duties.

The Minister expressed shock over the barbaric act by unknown gunmen, he assured the families of the deceased and Nigerians, that the country would never forget their sacrifice and their love ones will not be abandoned.

He equally stated that, “this is why I always say that, the services rendered by our security agencies is a thankless job, because they sacrifice their all to ensure we are secured at the expense of their lives”.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo, assured the families that the perpetrators will not go unpunished.

The Minister said this on Wednesday, while on inspection of facilities at the Federal Fire Academy, Sheds in Abuja.

He however, expressed satisfaction on the facilities at the Academy but said there is need for more to be done if the country must achieve the needed safety for prevention of fire disaster in market places, high rise buildings and commercial entities.

The Minister advised the authority of the academy to incorporates training of ‘safety officers’ with certification and deploy them to strategic places in the country for rescue purposes.

He was accompanied with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, Director Joint Services Dr. Ogbodo Peter, Controller General of Federal Fire Service Abdulganiyu Jaji and staff of the Ministry.
