“As we continue to improve water governance in alignment with modern best practice, it becomes imperative to establish clear and comprehensive guidelines that will guide the smooth operation of the Commission’s activities,” she said.
Speaking during the workshop, Mrs Jimeta said the Federal Government is to engage in meaningful dialogue, share insight and develop robust regulatory instruments to address key challenges in water resources management.
The Acting Executive Director noted that the regulations must reflect national realities with wide solutions to improve water conservation, promote efficient water use and mitigate the impact of climate change on the water system.
In her words “this workshop provides us with the valuable platform to deliberate on the preparation of such regulations which will ensure equitable access, sustainable utilization and proper management of our nation’s water resources and to develop a legal framework that will enhance the Commission’s capacity to fulfil its mandate”.
